Pokemon FireRed version is an enhanced remake of Pokemon Red version for the Game Boy Color. While it contains many of the same elements of the original game, FireRed differs in that it contains new items, Pokemon, and locations as well as several other more minor differences. The objective, like in all of the other main Pokemon games, is to obtain all eight gym badges, defeat the Elite Four and their champion, and most importantly to fill up your Pokedex by catching Pokemon. Pokemon FireRed, along with Pokemon LeafGreen version, initially came bundled with a Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter, allowing for local wireless activities with owners of any of the five Generation III Game Boy Advance Games (Pokemon Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, LeafGreen, and FireRed). Although it is a remake of a Generation I game, it is actually classified as a Generation III game because because of several features not present in Generation I or II games and its compatibility with the other Generation III games. One major addition is a collection of islands off the coast of Kanto that are gradually opened up to the player as he/she progresses through the game. The first three of the seven islands, collectively known as the Sevii Islands, become accessable after defeating Blaine at the seventh gym on Cinnabar Island, and is presented as an optional side quest to the main story. The remaining four only become available after defeating the Elite Four and the Pokemon League Champion.
